Fall
This morning my dad surprised us with the news that he was in town to boat shop with my brother. He stopped in for a few minutes-- just long enough for Savvy to go through her cycle of worship, familiarity and then dismissal. Basically-- like she treats us. :) It was time to get the lawn raked so Savvy hung around the front yard while I got the leaves gathered into one huge pile. Then the fun began. She buried herself, we buried her, then she leapt into the pile again and again while yelling "To infinity and beyond!" She also told me that her stuffed dog, Toto, was her granddaughter and that I shouldn't say any bad words or mean things in front of her. Then she told me Puppet was her granddaughter, too-- or maybe her brother. She cracks me up with the weird things she comes up with. After a walk over to the park by Cindy and Doreen's house we walked back and now the little bear is napping away upstairs thanks to some baby whispering by her mama. Good times...

Christmas Lights
Today's been a rough day for reasons I don't want to go into just yet, but we tried to enjoy ourselves tonight. We went with Cindy, Doreen and the kids to an awesome light display about 15 minutes south of here. The people who put it on do an amazing job. There are thousands of lights and they even have hot apple cider and cookies for the kids. Layla was in awe of the reindeer and Savvy was delighted by getting to try one of each cookie. Now we're back home watching the old school Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on dvd... that's all for now. More later...

Girl's Night
Tonight we met up with Savvy's Auntie Cindy and Layla at Chick Fil A for their family night. They had Color Me Mine there tonight and all the kids were able to paint Christmas ornaments that will be fired so that we can pick them up and hang them on our tree. Savvy and Layla chowed down on some nuggets before taking off for the playground. Layla is completely fearless but Savvy was content to watch her go down the slide-- instead preferring the safety of the stairs. :) They were excited to paint their ornaments and both got free ice cream for participating. Poor Layla got brain freeze with every bite. Now we're back home watching Savvy's favorite Sing A Long Songs video-- Aladdin. Have a good night.

Enjoying the Season
We've been having a great couple days enjoying the Christmas season. Yesterday we took Savvy to a free concert at the downtown library featuring the Sacramento Youth Symphony. The kids were amazing and Savvy enjoyed hearing them play and getting to faux conduct from the audience. She also loved that we let her wear a little eye shadow and one of our necklaces to the show :) After the show we walked downstairs to the children's library and let Savvy do some gingerbread craft projects before braving the rain and walking back to the car.
Today D got lucky in the Midtown Sacramento Elf Hunt, going by Bows and Arrows (a cool vintage store downtown) to find one of the twelve elves they'd hidden for the contest. She found one, scoring herself a set of three gift certificates for midtown retailers. This evening we took advantage of the brief break in the rain to go for a 2 mile walk through our neighborhood and check out some of the amazing Christmas lights nearby. Savvy actually gasped when we got to the large Christmas display we were walking towards. She was awesome-- walking for about one of the two miles and not fussing once. The dogs enjoyed the outing, too and both found lawns to relieve themselves on. :) Now we're back home watching a Sing A Long songs video with Savvy before bed. Hope your season is turning out to be just as merry...
