Camping

We had quite an adventure camping this weekend. :) We decided to give tent camping a try as a family-- dogs and all-- but wanted to be close enough to home that we could drive back if they were out of control. We settled on the KOA in West Sacramento, which was actually a fun little family campground-- the staff were awesome, even if the facilities were a little out of date. We'd reserved a tent site right by the playground but arrived to find it at the end of a big field where 35-40 mile per hour winds were blowing. We got the tent staked down only to have it ripped up within 5 minutes by the wind. The staff in the front office helped us upgrade into one of their cabins (for only $20 more) right on the water, which ended up being a MUCH better choice. It was really cute and cozy and Savvy had a blast playing on the porch swing. Savvy's Aunties Cindy and Doreen brought Ben, Kai and Layla over to play for a few hours, which was a lot of fun. We got to make s'mores over the campfire and this morning Savvy watched the neighbors pull some striped bass and catfish out of the water in front of the cabin. It was a lot funner than I expected for somewhere so close by, and I'm really excited about our next camping trip-- hopefully with some friends along for the ride. :)
