Christmas 2009

We've been so busy that I haven't had time to post in AGES. Yesterday we got back from our weeklong trip to visit the grandparents. Last Sunday we drove into the city to attend the Renegade Craft Fair at Fort Mason with Savvy's Auntie Cindy. We had fun perusing all the cool offerings and ended up leaving with a cupcake shirt for Savvy, a flower pin for D, some chai scented lotion for me and a tiny crocheted poop for the family to share. :) After we maxed out on crafts we stopped in for brunch at Greens, where we had the yummiest carrot parsnip soup. We got to spend some time with Savvy's Nana and Grandpa Salt and got the coolest handmade bird houses from them. I'll have to take some pics of them soon to show you.

After leaving San Francisco on Monday we headed down to Salinas for our stay with my parents. They had decked out the house in everything Christmas and for about half an hour Savvy just walked, dazed, from room to room. My parents (prepare for a shock) completely spoiled Savvy while we were there. The first day they unveiled a tiny kitchen they've got set up for her there, and then made her open a bounce house that they'd got her for Christmas. I have a hilarious video I'll post later of the first time she saw it set up in their front room. (And also a great one of her dancing to Beyonce's Single Ladies video). We spent the week hanging out with the family, taking Savvy to the beach and to Dennis the Menace Park and getting some solo mom shopping in. We also the best food while we were there-- D and I picked up some fresh black cod one night from the commercial wharf, and scored some fresh crabs for Christmas Eve. There is nothing better than cooking fish caught the same morning. It was fantastic.

Christmas morning was hilarious. Savvy was so overwhelmed by all the gifts and stockings and everything that after opening about five things she was done. It took about three hours to get through all her goods. Overall we had a great holiday. Now we're back home and settling in before heading back to work tomorrow. Hope yours was a fantastic holiday, too!

Lights

Tonight we took Savvy back to Dovewood Court so that she could get out of the car and take a closer look at all the cool lights. She spent most of the trip staring in wide-eyed wonder at everything-- especially the garage someone turned into a cartoon carnival. She must have stared at that scene for about ten minutes. I snapped some pics tonight, and I've got some others from our weekend that I wanted to share. Enjoy!
